    I decided to keep all of my photos within the upstairs space of my house where I keep all my stuff. Firstly, I was already up here working on assignments, so I saw no reason to not do so. Secondly, I felt there was a decent amount of material to work with, even with my poor photography skills.

    I don’t really know how to talk about what the experience was like, since it’s not something I typically do, but it was fun seeing the stuff around me and figuring out what I could work with.

    There was an old box I used for the opening to another space, and I used my bed cover for a repeating pattern with the evergreen trees. Of all my photos, those probably worked the best. I did hide my face in the motion one knowing it’d reduce the photo’s overall quality, as I don’t feel comfortable showing my face here. Hope you understand.

    The most inventive (although the word “most” is doing a lot of heavy lifting there) would probably be the opening one with the box. I saw the box laying around from some mail my brother ordered, and decided it could make a decent tunnel for the photo. I don’t really have any more kind of in detail analysis to give, my apologies.

  • Week 1 Daily Creates

    For my first week of Daily Creates, I’ve completed the objectives from May 23-25. Here are the following creates:

    May 23: Lunar Explorations

    “Use the Random Moon Name Generator to find a moon in our solar system, and then do something creative with your lunar discovery — draw a picture of the moon, share an interesting fact, write a poem, compose a story ….”

    “@creating #tdc4879 #ds106 #DailyCreate I got Charon, one of Pluto’s moons. I drew a picture of it in Procreate, and also have some Fun Facts:
    1) This moon is named after Charon, the undead ferryman who carries souls across the River Styx in Greek mythology. It’s likely named after them to reflect Pluto, which is the Roman name of Hades, Greek god of the dead and the Underworld, as well as Charon’s boss.
    2) This moon is one-half the diameter and one-eighth the mass of Pluto, and about a quarter of our Moon’s size.
    3) I’m actually out of fun facts, so uhhhhhhhhhhh stay hydrated” – My comment on the TDC website

    May 24: Environmental Sounds

    May 25: Cyanometer

    “‘According to Wikipedia, a cyanometer is “an instrument for measuring “blueness”, specifically the colour intensity of blue sky. It is attributed to Horace-Bénédict de Saussure and Alexander von Humboldt. It consists of squares of paper dyed in graduated shades of blue and arranged in a color circle or square that can be held up and compared to the color of the sky’.

    It’s probably too big of a task to make one from scratch for today’s Daily Create – although we’d love it if you did. Instead, why not visit Hello Cyanometer and browse though the images there, then remix one into something to share with us.

    Alternatively, you could download one from Gavin Gough, print it and hold it up to measure the sky where you are.”

    Hello!

    I’m Noah Rojas, a proud sophomore (as of writing this) at the University of Mary Washington. I’m still undeclared, but am intending to graduate with a Bachelors of Science in Computer Science, and one day become a full-time game developer. I identify on the queer spectrum as both aromantic and asexual, and I’m still trying to figure out my gender identity, so just use whatever gender and/or pronouns fit the current situation for now.

    I was technically born in San Diego, California, but quickly moved to Lubbock, Texas when I was around one year old. I graduated elementary and middle school there, before coming to Culpeper, Virginia to eventually graduate from Eastern View High. As you can guess from my ambitions and the embedded photo, I am a huge video game nerd, but also am absolutely obsessed with animals and even help out at my family’s barn on occasion. I also have minor interests in theatre and fencing, and while I do sing somewhat competently, I often don’t take classes or go to karaoke in relation to that, instead just keeping it as a personal hobby.

    Here’s an assignment I did for a separate DGST class:
